Colon Cancer Awareness Month

Since the year 2000 March has been recognized as Colon Cancer Awareness Month, since then it has grown to be a rallying point for the colon cancer community where thousands of patients, survivors, caregivers and advocates throughout the country join together to spread colon cancer awareness by wearing blue, holding fundraising and education events, talking to friends and family about screening and so much more.
It’s true – there are a lot of unexpected surprises that can happen in life, but colon cancer doesn’t have to be one of them. As we unite for a future free of colon cancer, let’s be sure to spread the message that there are more than one way to get screened for this disease! The best test is the one that gets done. Share this video and help spread the word!
What is Screening?
Screening is checking for a disease before there are symptoms. Because colon cancer first starts with few, if any, symptoms, it is important not to wait for symptoms before talking to your doctor.
There are many different screening tests for colon cancer, from colonoscopy to blood tests. You and the Altamonte MD providers can work together to find the test that works best for you.
Wear the color BLUE during the month of March to show your support for those effected by colon cancer.
