Lipid Testing

The Lipid Panel can determine whether you have normal or abnormal cholesterol and/or triglyceride ranges. Knowledge of your cholesterol and triglyceride levels are vital to determine whether or not you are at risk of heart disease and/or illnesses.

• High Density Lipoproteins (HDL) = Good cholesterol.

• Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL) = Bad cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance found in all cells within your body. Cholesterol is both beneficial and detrimental to your body. Cholesterol is beneficial to your body by helping produce hormones, vitamin D and other substances that help you digest foods but also detrimental by contributing to fatty buildup within your arteries which leads to heart attack, stroke and/or death. Cholesterol can be found in egg yolks, meats, cheeses, shellfish, etc.
